endurance until the end : that is what it takes. to be a wrestler. to be strong. to give your all. and more. that is why you always have to try harder. today after my wrestling practice with the boys i went out to run hills at 7:30 it was only 30 minutes but man, it was hard. my rib started to burn but i just keep pushing. thats what it takes.

so i was reading my blog and i realized that i have none of my accomplishments and what i have done to prove that girls can be strong and wrestle and still be girls. this is a link my mom made of some of the things i have done in the last 3 and a half years ~liv
a few Saturdays ago i competed in Freshman States Competition for high school in Concord, NH. i wrestled all boys as usual. After the meet, i participated in an Exhibition match with only girls. i have been wrestling since 6th grade not including injuries.i pinned her opponent in the 1st match.. lost the 2nd match.. and pinned the 3 rd boy.i wrestled for 3rd place... both boys i pinned and threw them. i ended up in 4th place and made the podium. There were 8 wrestlers in my 152 weight class. All weight classes had 8 wrestlers.. except heavyweights which had 6.. There were 3 other girls @ the meet.. only a small 100lb had a win..so i had more wins then all of them... i also had an exhibition match against the 175 lb girl after her last boy match.. i could have pinned in 12secs, but i let the girl up over & over to get practice for my girl season before finally pinning her in the 2nd round.. i guess the 150 lb girl saw that and said no to wrestling me in another exhibition.

i thought this article was really good and really she has all the same goals as me. i read this article from shannyn gillespie's facebook page, he is a head girls freestyle coach: you can check him out here http://webb.nmu.edu/SportsUSOEC/Sports/FreestyleWrestling/CSShannynGillespie.shtml . so if you thought girls cant do good in a guys sport like wrestling well they can just like this article ~liv

today i went and worked out for the second time : since i did lower body this morning i worked on upper body. this is what i did :
warmup : jumping jacks, arm & leg swings, jogging in place, and just the general warmup
i kindof have an injury so me & my dad went around & tested what i could do & to what level of pain
then i did more warmups: cleans~ bar x 3, 65 x 5, 85 x 5
hanging deadlifts~ 65 x 3, 85 x 5, 85 x 10
bench press~ bar x 5, 65 x 3, 85 x 3, 105 x 2, failed 135, 135 x 1 *for the first time :)
i did one of each and then restarted:push press~bar x 5, 65 x 4, 85 x 3, 95 x 2
explosive press~ bar x 5, 65 x 4, 85 x 3, 95 x 2
pull ups~ x 2, x 2, x 2, x 2, x 3.5
my next round was this: reverse curl~ 20 x 10, 30 x 5, 40 x 2
regular curl~ 20 x 10, 30 x 1 x 5, 40 x 1.5
* this was particulary hard since i did all this in a space of 10 minutes
last but not least i streched: my new favorite thing is the foam roller; it is like a muscle massage !

when i was younger i used to watch the olympics, i would go to bed dreaming about how someday i would find a way to be there : it just so happened that i found a way and i really love it. I wrestle. yes i am a girl. yes i wrestle boys. but what people dont get is that girls wrestling boys isnt like they think. when we step on the mat we are out there to wrestle; to put our hearts and souls and everything we have to win and if thats not good enough we try harder, push ourselves more. and if anyone thinks otherwise then that is their issue not ours. i am starting this blog to show people and let them be aware that girls do wrestle and they dont just do it to "flirt with the boys". I hope when you read my blog that you will be inspired and go after your own dreams - Liv
